I thought a writer should get a lot of experiences first, which meant it meant I was in my forties when I started writing fiction. I spent years writing a novel. It taught me to write, and it brought me to Varuna. At Varuna I was treated as a writer, so I became one. I’ve been back there a few times, and each time I make a giant step down my writing path.
